St James Primary World Cup Football Tournament

Chilly and misty afternoons last week, were brightened by the dazzling talent and colour of our World Cup football. Over 76 children, experienced footballers and enthusiastic newbies, joined together to represent their teams in a competitive yet supportive and inclusive event.

Our wonderful students from Godalming College presided over the senior and junior KS2 tournaments on Monday, with Mrs Duke & Mrs Fowler holding the KS1 event Thursday.  A special thank you to all our Sports Crew and helpers from Years 4 to 6 who offered their support and enthusiasm, especially to the younger children.

Our Sports Crew member Harvey penned the following report:

This year's World Cup tournament went really well.  We had lots of really good sportsmanship. All the teams did really well, lots of people participated and it was really good fun.

I would like to mention that it brought out the best from everyone and thank you for playing and supporting our football.

The winning teams received their certificates in our celebration assembly and special awards made too for outstanding play, goalkeeping and sportsmanship.
