Dear Parents and Carers

We send our love and deepest condolences to Mrs Lowry following the death of her husband, Phil Lowry this week.  Phil also worked at St James Primary for 6 years until 2013 supporting Mrs Lowry in her role as caretaker and helping with cleaning our school.

We also send our love to their daughter, Sharon and grandson, Alfie.

Best wishes,

Valerie Elliott

School Notices

  • Possible Strike Action on Thursday, 2nd March - as with the previous strike day, we cannot advise whether this will affect our school or not. However, we will notify you when we have definite news.  Please refer to Mrs Elliott's letter dated 27th January which remains on the Parent Portal.
  • Red Nose Day, Friday 17th March - we will be having a fundraising day for Comic Relief on this day and will be 'Dressing Up for Joy'. There are many options, pick a theme, don the best home-made costume, go red from head to toe or simply dig out your brightest socks.  Wear something that makes you and your school smile.  We have set up a St James Primary fundraising page for you to make donations if you wish.
  • Healthy Snacks - children often want to have a mid-morning snack at school.  This should be healthy and avoid being overly salty or sugary, such as a piece of cheese, fruit, or vegetable sticks and dips.  Please do not provide them with pre-packaged snacks such as crisps or chocolate biscuits.  Please ensure that you do not provide anything that contains nuts.
  • Parent Consultations - please see the information about Parent Consultations on the Parent Portal.  Once the booking goes live you have until 2nd March to book an appointment.
  • Open Classrooms - Open classrooms provide an opportunity for parents or carers to view their children's work in the classroom.  They will take place for the following classes from 3.10 to 3.30pm on the following dates;
Monday 27th February - Y3 and Y6
Tuesday 28th February - Y2
Wednesday 1st March - YR
Monday 13th March - Nursery

  • Drop in sessions with our Home School Link Worker, Helen Owen - The role of the Home School Link Worker (HSLW) is to support families with a range of issues at home or at school. 1:1 sessions are available on Wednesdays. To book an  appointment, email Helen on hslw@st-james-elstead.surrey.sch.uk or ring the school office to request a call back.
