St James E-News

4th November 2021

Welcome to the St James Primary School's E-News, a weekly roundup of the latest goings on at the school.

Latest Headteachers Blog

Dear Parents,

Thank you for your support, once again, as sadly the school is having to reintroduce some measures to control the spread of the Covid virus. We hope to keep these measures in place for as short a time as possible, but this is dependent on the number of positive cases across the school. If your child is having to isolate at home, the school will provide work through Microsoft Teams 24 hours after we receive your notification that they are able to study.  Until then, parents are encouraged to use the learning games on DB Primary and the other learning platforms used by your child's class.

As we face the possibility of yet another Christmas without being able to do the usual lovely Christmas things, we are working hard to think of ways to share the Christmas spirit!  We are planning for the children to sing Christmas carols at the start of the PTA Christmas Fair and have some of the usual fun activities in school. We are also planning to hold an open classroom event for each class in turn in the hall and please look out soon for the next Bringing Out the Best bulletin, which details what is happening across the school. it has been challenging throughout the pandemic to share everything that happens in school, but we hope these things will help.

Best wishes for a lovely weekend,

Valerie Elliott

School Notices

  •  2021 Poppy Appeal - poppies and other miscellaneous fundraising items will be available in school from tomorrow.  If your child would like to make a donation please send them into school with an appropriate amount of cash.  They can make their donations in their classrooms.
  • Scooters and bikes in school - we are delighted that children want to ride their bikes and scooters to school but it is very important, for the safety of all,  that they do not ride them once they are on school property, either on paths, the playground or in the car park.  Please ensure that your child dismounts as soon as they are on school property and that they walk it either to the bike and scooter rack outside the Year 2 classroom or the scooter rack outside the children's kitchen.  If you need help with the rack locations, please ask at the office.  There is no longer a facility to store bikes in the school car park.

  • NEW COVID-19 INFORMATION FROM PHE - In response to the transmission of variants of concern, Public Health England (PHE) South East, is advising all close contacts of COVID-19 cases to get a COVID-19 PCR test (ideally 5 days after exposure or day five of isolation) whether or not they have symptoms of coronavirus COVID-19
  • Weekend Results: It is very important that you continue to notify us of Covid-19 test results still over the weekend by using the below email address which is monitored out of school hours.
